So: let me ask all of you a question. Do you wish to have censorship on posts that Randy or myself don't like? If you want changes such as this then I need input from each of you. My family is mostly police officers of one type or another and I certainly cannot condone or agree with those people who advocate lawlessness or harm to officers of any kind. I also think some of the responses to people who are merely looking for some information are out of line and show the stupidity of many of the people in our society, not just here on this board.
So, Sharon, what is the good of just slamming the site and then going somewhere else? Stay and help us weed out more of these idiots with some suggestions on how to accomplish same. I think that if all of you would just ignore the ignorant rantings of the dime store vigilantes who would, in reality, only have the guts to shoot at stopsigns and other non threatening items, and the generally nasty comments from other less than intelligent individuals, they will finally just go go away and leave us to our efforts to help, protect, and at the same time promote Death Valley as just what it is; a jewel like no other in the United States of America, and perhaps in the world. I personally have walked in the Khyber Pass and the deserts of Egypt and Arabia such as the Rub al Khali (the empty quarter) which is the largest unbroken sand expanse in the world. They all are remarkable and wonderful areas but they simply come up short when compared to our own Death Valley.
As many of you know, I am unable to continue the operation of Panamint due to physical difficulties. I would like to pass ownership of this board to someone who will continue it without problems. Help me out here. What should I do? 1. ignore the problem? 2. practice censorship? 3. forget it and let someone else sort it out? 4. get comments and suggestions from each of you and try to implement rules to live by? 5. I guess we could shoot some of those who advocate vigilante action but that hardly seems a reasonable solution as then we would lower this board to their lack of standards and intelligence. 6. Have each and every one of us who post proper items of interest on the board totally ignore these idiots and simply do not post responses to their juvenile, useless comments. 7. appoint (elect?) a committee of 3 or 4 to review questionable posts and recommend censoring or allowing them to stay.
As most of you know, Randy has been running this board and I think does an excellent job. I have myself enjoyed reading the board on a daily basis and have gleaned many items of interest from the posts. I personally prefer solution 6. above but will listen to all comments from you good folks. Jerry
