It is unfortunate that you were unaware of it prior to driving 3 hours over a very bumpy road. The used to have a sign as you entered the area that advised visitors of the clothing requirement. The individual you asked to cover up could have responded in a more polite manner by explaining the clothing policies, rather than being lewd. Some people can be rude wearing clothes or not. In a larger sense, it is unfortunate you even heard of the place, because that means more and more people know of it. Soon, the highway will be paved, there were be rangers collecting camping fees, and all the charm and quirkiness that came with the "remoteness" of the place, including the clothing policies will be forever lost. Having said this, on behalf of all of the polite visitors to Saline Valley hot springs, I apologize for the rude behavior of the few you encountered. However, you do not have the right to complain about the nudity. You do have the right to complain about lewd and inappropriate behavior. If public nudity upsets you, and you want to protect yourself from lewd encounters in the future, I recommend you please do not return to the area, and please don't tell anyone you were ever there.
Respectfully yours...
