Nudity at Saline?

I was there yesterday with my kids...since when has clothing been optional? I was shocked to see naked bodies. I asked one guy to cover up and he stood up out of the spring and he was obviously in the mood for friendship..he asked me if I wanted to climb aboard, if not I could leave if I didnt like it.Why cant the people there wear a bathing suit? That was a long drive and the AAA mapbook did not advise us that there was public nudity.
