Dirt Road Ridgecrest => Stovepipe accessible ?

Hi everybody,

in my RandMcNally road atlas is a dirt road from Ridgecrest, CA to Hwy #190 / Stovepipe Wells shown.
Passes also Westend / Argus / Trona etc.
How is the condition of this road ? Is it paved or not ? Would you recommend rather to use #395 thru junction #190 ? How long will it take from Ridgecrest to Stovepipe Wells using the dirt road ?
