You're absolutely right about the .33 inch of rain being at Furnace Creek. Very likely much more rain in the canyon. As I thought about this, and compared this rain to the rain we had here in NY, I also realized the size of our canyons here in NY are much smaller, so the multiplier effect of a large watershed is far smaller.
The true power of nature is clearly not understood by many people.
