Rob, I don't live near Death Valley or in a desert environment, as a matter of fact I live in Downey, the same city that those two poor souls lived in. The idea that the state or federal goverments are somehow responsible for their deaths or the safety of all the vistors in the park on that day is a little silly. In a day and age when budgetary cut-backs are a dime a dozen, the National Parks system and Cal. Trans. were not immune to these cut-backs. I would generally say that the federal and state governments are blown up buearocracies that function pretty poorly, but those men and women that work in the Death Valley area do a hell of a job considering the staffing that they are supplied with. Ultimately, God is responsible for what occured, so if your going to sue someone, sue God and good luck doing so.
