visit to death valley with young kids in late June

My thinking is that we will drive into Death Valley on the afternoon of June 26 (from the Vegas area), watch the sunset somewhere, spend the night in our RV, watch the sunrise in the morning, do some exploring and head to Mammoth Lakes late in the day. I would love some knowledgable advice about what to make sure we see, where we should go for sunset/sunrise and whether I'm crazy to do this with 4 children in late June.
