Whenever I visit DV, I fly into Las Vegas. From McCarron Airport, it is just a few miles to get out of town and on your way. If you are renting a car, rates are usually more competitive in Vegas than LA. I also find the airport more convenient to use, and if I need a room, there's lots of great rates in Vegas as long as there isn't a prizefight or some huge convention.
This is only my opinion. I'm sure there are those who will disagree. But if I'm spending my hard earned $$$, I'd rather spend a little more and maximize the time I have in the desert.
