Southern California Auto Club [AAA] has a very informational map, "Guide to Death Valley National Park". Its a fantastic map for visitors.
Some places to visit on your first time: Dantes View, Titus Canyon, Scottys Castle, Ubehebe Crater, Salt Creek, Sand Dunes, all of which are by vehicle; Golden Canyon-Zabrinski's Point, Devils Golf Course area, Wildrose Peak, Telescope Peak, all have trails except the Devils Golf Course; Keane Wonder Mine, Marble Canyon, Grotto Canyon, Panamint City, are more advanced areas. Beware that your need for water will be greater than you will expect, the distances are futher than you think, you must be careful of the desert. It can hurt you.
Do easy stuff until you become adapted with desert awareness.
Most of us really love the area and will take more adventures hikes and trips the longer we visit.
