No, I suspect that they drove BLM route P168 over the northern end
of the Slate Range. There is also a 4x4 trail that goes up Fish
Canyon from P168 drops down in the lower end. P168 is a good dirt
road which is an alternative to Rt 178 between the Searles Valley
and the Panamint Valley. Parts of this route may be close to where
Manly crossed the Slate Range.
