Wow! What a nice little jaunt - only 23 miles round trip from SR178 a few miles north of Trona Airport. I started out alone yesterday afternoon at 1445 just to traverse Manly Pass into Panimint Valley. What outstanding views from the saddle to the North up Panimint Valley! I then came upon the Escape Route leading back West up a very rocky wash. I admit it got a little testy as I worked my way up to the "campsite/homesite"; I had to move several rocks and boulders from bowling ball-size up to a 300+lb. monster that jumped out and gouged my passenger door/lower body panel. The shadows by that time were getting very long, so I backtracked out to the Manly Pass road. I won't try this again without help. My '01 Gr.Cherokee doesn't have that much ground clearance, even with the "factory option" lift kit (17" wheels/tires). Where can I find some historic information on The Escape Route and the homesite half-way up?
