Believe it or not, that 1926 weather station is identical to one used today at Furnace Creek and at stations throughout the world. Even the thermometers inside are the same. They are accurate to 1 deg F. Consistency over the years is very important. DV may be getting a new weather station in the next year with higher resolution electronic instruments, and one purpose will be to estimate the heat buildup in the old enclosure.
