The problem with any material such as plywood, drywall, etc, added to the inside of a cabin is that it soon becomes a source
of deterioration in itself. Deer mice and other pests love the "improvements", but with people leaving wood, newspaper and
food (with all good intentions) inside cabins, the cabins become hotels for rodents. The rafters and walls become perfect
nesting quarters.

Unfortunatly, what the NPS may be up to is closing down desert cabins in the name of protecting the public from
health hazzards. Hantavirus warnings are on the increase throughout the Park and it is interesting that the NPS in New Mexico
is studying DV cabins.

Improve wisely and leave no trace. Don't give the NPS a reason to limit access any more than they all ready do!
