These post lend well to my soapbox, so let me climb up on it. :-)

It looks to me that all parks want people on buses, only seeing whats on the tour. Any ranger who don't fit that plan will be handled. Even maps give less details of parks with every release.

This way they can close off any area they want and it is less work to run a park if there is 100% control. So the need to know the area is almost usless. People will be watching videos about the park on the bus between stops at tourist traps. Since its a video, there is no one to ask questions to except the bus driver or someone working the cash register at the stops.

I can go on and on about this, but I won't. I have found some ranger's to be helpful over the years, but alot seem to see it just as a job and may not have any real interest in the park they work at. I would like to add, that most parks give great little night talks about some area of the park, but I see 90% of all RVs, liteup with the blue hue of a TV, watching a video, nobody hardly even sits around and camp fire and talk and looks at stars.

I think all of us who want to go thru the hard work and time of exploring will die off soon and parks can be run for a profit, not just for us.

Ahaa, maybe I'm wrong. :-)
