Southwest out of the Kit Fox Hills to the actual site of old Stove Pipe Well is the remains of an old emigrant wagon road, the track of which can still be seen by the eye. This feature is well described by a plaque on the road to Scotty's Castle, just north of Hwy 190 and Mud Canyon Road to Beatty.

Also, traveling south parallel to Hwy 190 is remains of another old road that follows the Salt Creek south to McLean Springs. The section of this road north of Hwy 190 was closed only recently due to either a significant archeological or biological finding.
