It is still inside the Lake Mead National Rec. Area now...as for the bucket measurments...I have never actually seen one, so don't have any othere info there, but your assumption sounds pretty plausable...
If that much rain fell in that area, then I have no doubt the wall of water was that high. If my memory serves, the wash that was home to the Marina was pretty narrow...perhaps a 150 feet across, but I have never seen photos of the actual marina, so I don't know the layout. If the water hit 30 feet, then it must have pretty much filled the wash completely..
The terrain is pretty similar to DV in that the groundcover is very rocky and "gravelly"...not much to absorb the water.
I think I have some photos of the wash where Nelson's Landing used to be, but I havn't found them yet...found some I took the same day of a "crashed" airplane that is alongside the road that goes down to Nelson's. I think it was a movie prop. But the photos of the actual Landing have eluded me so far....
