I've only explored the top of the falls at the head of the canyon and found it a most fascinating area to poke around. There is a small turnout for parking where the old dirt road was closed by DVNP; hike the dirt road for only a 1/2 mile down to the wash. Keep your eyes open.
To venture up the mouth of the canyon looks like a three mile hike from Panamint Springs before reaching the wash. From there it looks like about 3.5 miles of canyon, but don't have a clue as to how far one can actually go up the canyon.
