Below is the CV from the flyleaf of Olesen’s book. His book was privately printed, therefore, the CV was most likely written by Olesen (this is typically the case for most books).

Olesen has published a couple articles that appeared in Westerner’s Branding Iron, Los Angeles Corral. I wrote him for copies of these articles but he would not send them. I found one through abebooks.com about Mountain Meadows. If any of you are Westerners, I would like to get his other article that talks about his mythical “Flowing stream.”

“After graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aeronautics, the author served two years in the United States Air Force and then spent 36 years as an aerospace engineer working for North American Aviation, Rockwell International and Northrop. His life long interest in the history of the western United States began with the Fur Trappers in the Rocky Mountains. For the last 25 years he has been studying Death Valley and the ’49ers as they traveled through that forbidding area. This book is an outgrowth of exploration by the author and the well-known Death Valley historian, John Southworth. During this time the author gained a rare insight into what Manly accomplished with his book where the correlation between that book and the topography of the area is unmistakable and impressive.”
