I rented a Jeep Cherokee from Thifty at the Las Vegas airport this past April for our DV trip. I know they also have Wranglers.
The Cherokee was fine, semi-street tires on it (Goodyear ATS), and the four wheel drive system was intact. We did Lippencott Road from the Racktrack side - no problems. Also did Mengal Pass from the west.
