We have used Zardoz' described method on several of our most recent trips with plenty of frozen meat, ice, etc. all the way through the final night (4-5 nights). Particularly nice to have lots of crushed ice for the Tequilla Sunrises while on the Briggs Camp veranda during our last evening in the Panamints.

Just remember to use gloves for handling the dry ice, whenever possible.
