Keeler, as a community, faded. Along with the community so did the pool.

Keeler was a railroad division point until 1960 and was an active community. Keeler is alive and well, but a ghost of its former self. It does have a stable population and the post office is still functioning.

However, those who call Keeler home are desert dwellers and apparently the community pool is not high on their agenda. Or LADWP won't allow them water to fill it. And with the dust problem due to the dry beds of Owens Lake, keeping the pool maintained and not full of dirt blown into it would be a full time job.

Inyo County is one of the poorest counties in the state and is barely breating, so has no funds to maintain the pool as a county maintained facility.

Thank you, Gray Davis. Hello, Arnie? How about loaning Inyo a bit of pocket change?
