good pic -- notice that only a little of the salt around the pool is trampled flat, and the the pool has defined edges, unlike just before the boardwalk was built. The Parkies goal was to get the pool back to the way is was in the photograph, while still allowing the public to get a close look at it, and to acess the salt pan.
There are things I don't like about the boardwalk, but it is a legitimate attempt to fix the problem.
The poster "T.J. Reynolds" would have moved the parking lot away, and basically closed access to badwater altogether. And he calls the parkies Nazis...so much for civility on the board.
