it doesn't look like anything that is in my Jepson Desert manual. It's definitely not a Joshua Tree. I agree with Dezdan, it's in the Lily family, but beyond that I don't know what it is. The flower stalk looks more like an Agave than a Yucca, but agave usually has wider, thicker leaves. The closest thing I can find is Agave utahensis.
Where did you get it?
