Lippencott in an Explorer should be fine. Your biggest concern should be off-road tires and supplies. Your agenda is at least a two day trip. Ridgecrest/Ballarat/Goler/Warmspings and up to Furnace Creek is a pretty good day (especialy if you stop to see anything). Through Stove Pipe Wells and Panamint Springs to the South Saline Valley Road, up Lippencott, Racetrack, Scotty's Castle and then back down to Furnace Creek is definitely a full day trip.
