Not insane, just True Believers.
There's a difference.
Insane people don't raise armies, crusade on Holy Wars, declare those who do not share their beliefs are doomed to eternal damnation, torture people in Inquisitions, kill their own species in the name of their god, publish pseudo-scientific books, or run for political office.
