There are many bookstores outside the park where pseudo-science books can be sold. My complaint is not with publishing and selling “Grand Canyon: A Different View” as such. This wedge that is now driven into the Grand Canyon Park’s bookstore is a major victory for creationists.

Eight years ago there were excellent geological interpretation signs along the Bright Angle Trail that explained the geological sequence as you descended the trail. For every step downward you (figuratively) went back in time about 30,000 years. These were excellent signs and a few years ago they were all removed. When I asked why, I was told they spooked the pack mules. This was, I suspect, a specious cover story. Probably the creationists found them offensive, so they were removed.

For ten years I have battled to keep creation science [sic], intelligent design, creationism, etc. out of our public schools. Religious fundamentalists now have a champion for their cause in the White House and he is willing to go to any extreme to placate the righteous right.

The founder of the Institute for Creation Research said, in a paper he published, he wanted the Bible to be used in public schools as a science text book. If creationists want to sell books, I recommend they open a bookstore outside the park. LeRoy
