This reminds me of the discussion about having LCR edit posts.

Denying anyone access to the ideas of others in order to protect truth (whatever that may be) is kind of like standing in the middle of a storm with an umbrella trying to keep puddles from forming. Truth is truth, myth is myth, puddles form where they will. I think most people can divine "truth" for themselves or would at least like the opportunity to try. This is America isn't it?

On the other hand...

If the book is being endorsed by the NPS (and people do tend to trust authority) as a scientifically valid theory of Earth Science regarding the origins of the Grand Canyon and by association, the world, and placement with Earth Science books is a de facto endorsement, there we have a problem. It may (or may not) be obvious by now to even the most casual oberver, that biblical creationism has been overwhelmingly rejected, (except in fundamental christian circles) and that we are far down the road of discovery to the origins, if not the cause, of our existence. In other words, don't call it science if it ain't science! But, people will and do misrepresent facts and the rest of us are left with the wonderfully unique task of sifting through the K-rap. Some people just sift a little faster than others.

just my opinion and happy sifting...
