Bodie, I hardly need anger management.. I'm not the one talilgating. But when I'm doing 70, can't go faster becasue of the line up in front of me and can't pull in or over and others tailgate expecting me to go faster... well you draw your own conclusion.
As for me visiting. I drive the same kind of traffic in my area as you do. This isn't exclusive to California or any place. I constantly drive a highway where the speed limit is 70 and while I'm getting out in the fast lane at 85 to leave the merge lane clear, some idiot is coming up behind me at 100 expecting me to get out of his way... again you draw your own conclusions... Now if you want to use the excuse late for work... don't blame others for that. That is your choice, unless you've been held up by an accident. Get up earlier and leave earlier. That's what I do. A normal 45 minute drive is assured by leaving an extra 15-30 minutes earlier. Now the sudden brake... perhaps there's a reason... maybe the guy in front of me decided to stand on his brakes. While I may be able to make a panic stop stop wihtout hitting the vehicle in front of me, can you say you can?
So don't jump to conclusions Bodie... I assume you're a good driver, must be you say 14 years without a ticket. Well I drive close to 100 thousand miles a year... have been since I was 20, that makes it 40 years, and never had a moving violation. Lots of parking tickets... but no moving violaltions. So I guess that puts me one up on you. (:>)
I just don't believe tailgating is ever justified. As someone else posted... as you're coming up, flash your lights. But remember, there may be a legitiamte reason I can't go any faster or move over. Take your time..Saving two seconds on me isn't going to get you there much faster. And your stress level will be much lower. Hope you understand my point.
