Mem'l Day weekend can be busy in some areas and deserted in others. Depends on where you're going. From Sac you can pass through Bishop and the Mule Days (pack train rodeo events), but maybe you're not horsey.

What did you want to do? Drive, 4-wheel, hike, explore, soak? Don't know about the ghost stories, other than Emmett's, and he published those.
