It will actually depend more on the tires than the vehicle.
You do not want a vehicle with passenger vehicle tires, and you also do not want a vehicle that has had the 4-wheel-drive deactivated.
A lot of rental '4x4s' can have one or both of these problems.
Depending on where you are going, you really don't need anything more than a passenger vehicle. If it is your first visit to DV, you'll be busy enough just hitting the main spots which are easily accessible.
