Was coming back from Bakersfield one hot day, and was a long way from home. Thermostat kept rising, so the heater went on and all windows went down. Got me home.
On the subject of radiator repairs, labor costs being what they are, I've always found it better just to replace than repair. That way you reduce the chance of other failures (like hose connections) and you know that you've got at least another 6+ years of service. Learned this lesson the hard way with radiator repair shops.
