We had a great trip last week to the Park. My boys visited their friends, the pupfish. The pupfish last week were mostly hatchlings though, not many adults among them.
We took the Titus Canyon road for the first time, WOW! I'll have to add that drive to the required trip list for our next trip. The road was in very good shape.
We also took the road into Echo Canyon. I drove a 2wd Ranger and made it about three miles. I was warned about the imbedded slickrock obsticle, I made it over that, but started to "high-center" over the gravel. I have only 14 inch rims and pas. tires so I didn't have that much clearance. I didn't want to risk punching a hole in the oil pan by a hidden rock in the gravel. We hiked for a mile into the canyon and saw some of the smaller arches. That was worth the trip by itself.
I was dissapointed by what the Park did with Badwater. The natural look was gone. They might have well have but in a fountain! I know the purpose was to prevent the shore from being trampeled and packed in, but I saw just as many people walking the edges as before.
If you saw a green Ranger P/U. with the "real" Georgia flag on the front license, that was us. I was the one in the old "Desert Storm" chocolate chips.
