     Though usually just a small pool on the surface of the salt flats, substantial rains brought an unusually high water level to Badwater. Imagine floating a kayak in the lowest spot in the Western Hemisphere?

     One day in the mid 1990's our friend Ben Jones, the Mayor of Badwater, met a kayaker site-seeing at the Badwater pools. He and Ben couldn't resist the photo opportunity!
