Posted by Last Chance Rand on October 15, 2004 at 12:15:18: Trail Report for: Pleasant Canyon/South Park Canyon Loop Found the road up South Park Canyon to be in very good shape. Compared to same time last year, road surface was well packed and not very sandy at all. As always, there are still major clearance issues, but at least traction is good. Road work around Chicken Rock was also in best condition of past few years. The road work is wide enough to pass without having to place tires on inside rock, thereby avoiding the off camber, cliff side dip! Cabins were both occupied, so we pitched tent just above Chicken Rock. Was surprisingly pleased to be able to listen to the NLCS game under a starry, moonless night, even though the Dodgers got trounced. Next morning descended same road, but at Chicken Rock a few rocks from the road work slipped out of place and slid down the cliff stiring up dust. Scary! Turned out to be nothing at all, as the road work continued to hold fine. Sorry, no pics this time.
