Trail Report of 9/27/03

Trail Report for: Pleasant Canyon/South Park Canyon Loop

Ascended South Park Canyon and found it to be in very good condition, but a high clearance 4x4 is still required.

Chicken Rock repairs have been made but were far from the more stout efforts of the past. The height difference between inside granite step and road work is greater than 30 inches, making for a severe lean toward the bottom of the cliff. Investigated but opted not to pass, as I was solo.

I'm concerned that repairs will not be sanctioned by BLM/Inyo Cty and, unless improved, might be removed as being unsafe. I urge the BLM to work with the many volunteers who have offered their services to repair the road at no cost to see the route safely and openly reconstructed.
