Scientists did an experiment with hydrophones to record glaciers breaking loose.

Maybe the racetrack ice dragging rocks would produce a distinctive sound signature? Some of the rock paths were tracked via GPS once. Tie in the recording with documented movement of the rocks, and we have something.
