why did you think barker ranch was 3 miles from ballarat? on 5/19 you posted a question asking for directions to barker. here's the first reply-

It's easy to get from Ballarat to Barkers, via Goler Canyon. {Best you have a map too} When you leave Trona/Wildrose Road, the road from Trona, you will go past the radar site following it in to Ballarat. At the cross road in Ballarat, turn south, {Wingate Road} towards the CR/Briggs mine. Go about 14 miles and the road will take you up the alluvial fan towards Goler Canyon. If you run out of good road before you make an almost 90 degree turn, you went too far. There is also a BLM road marker at Wingate/Goler. You will need 4x4 with good clearence. I was just up Goler on 14 May and the road it good, but 4x4 required. Lots of water in the canyon this spring. It's about 6 miles +- to Sourdough Springs. It's alittle tricky here, but follow the best road to the right after you pass the springs. You'll go thru so very over grown cottonwoods and find the Barker Ranch a mile or less past that. Besure to stop at the Newman Cabin {3 miles +- up Goler Canyon}

reread the part about going 14 miles south on wingate road.

and you got lost finding lippincott mine road too?

you really should invest in a map. get a topo sheet or at least the death valley AAA map. you're going to get lost someday and find yourself in trouble.

nice trip report tho.
