It is probably the busiest gravel road in the park, with the possible exception of the west side road. Which means it is sometimes a little washboarded, but very driveable. Just about any car can do it, at least to the racetrack. Past the racetrack, the road gets a little rougher, but more secluded. Seclusion is relative. It is more secluded than Badwater, but not as secluded as Owlshead.

Hunter Mountain may still be ice and snow, so check the morning report before you try to go all the way to Panamint Springs.
