In researching my upcoming trip (I leave Friday), one of the most useful books I found in looking for old mining sites is a 1917 report from the California State Mining Bureau titled "Mines and Mineral Resources of Alpine County, Inyo County, Mono County" by Arthur Eakle. Since this is a government report, it should not be covered by copyright, so I thought I'd share a couple of old photos within. Many of the photos are of poor quality, so I picked a couple of the best to scan and try to enhance.

This first is photo #18 from page 45 and is captioned "The Racetrack" Ubehebe district, Inyo County. View northeastward towards Tin Mountain, Panamint Range.

Other photos follow in this thread. I've found locations for all the mines I've been looking for but one. Anyone dare to give a hint as to the location of a site some call "Spur of the Moment Mine"? I don't blame anyone for the keeping it secret - looks like a real historic treasure.

Thanks!
