"Burro" grave near Darwin?

Had a great few nights last week tromping through the western edge of Death Valley and the hills around Darwin. Camped off the Lake Hill Road east of Panamint Resort one night and had an amazing fly-by the next morning. We could see the pilot's helmet inside the canopy, he couldn't have been more than 85' off the deck. Saw him before we heard him, and the sound and noise as he passed shook my spine. Even though it might be inappropriate, the only reaction is a heartfelt salute.

On 190 just south of the Darwin turn-off, at a bend in the road is a large rock pile to the southeast that's apparently a common turn-off. It's relatively clean but well-used. There's a cairn under the rockpile with a cross labeled "BURRO." Doubtful that it's a real grave, but does anyone know?
