I agree. I'd rather just air down as a last resort or desperate measure sort of situation. But Mad Dog has a neat AC compressor he's rigged up to run off the engine belting, so he regularly airs down & up. I guess it just depends on how agressive you want to get vs. the trail. I have decent AT tires, carry 2 spares, and a 12V compressor I'd probably have to rate as a cheapie. I've only used it for airing up tires on my riding mower, so it's also a last resort thing. But I guess a can of Fix-A-Flat would be some cheap insurance as well.
