I think agree with Steve S on the Tacoma as opposed to the Forerunner, with 2 people and gear. The Forerunner is cramped in the back for 2 people to sleep in comfortably. A Tacoma with a shell would be perfect.
Regarding reliability and engines on the Forerunner, I haven't heard of any problems that way, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen. We went through 2 Blazers - the first one we had to put a new engine in at exactly 100,000 miles. The second one, barely got 90,000 and the engine died. From what I hear the Toyotas are fine in this area. Ours is too new to make a judgement on engines, but we love it!
