Jerry you would be better off doing the extra scenic drive and staying at panamint springs. I personally am a dirt camper, however I stayed at both Stovepipe and furnace during a recent athletic event and was disappointed with both.Stovepipe has a nice store and the hotel is clean, but the employees do seem a bit unhappy and are not friendly. Furnace creek is a little better but they have Major crowds and we had to listen to a tour bus running outside our room all night. The food is pricey at both and just a tad above unaccceptable. If you like clean and quiet, check out panamint resort. The folks there treat everybody well.
