Las Vegas is indeed competitive, but strange. At Dollar their full-size 4WD SUV is less costly than their intermediate SUV right now. My last rental in May '02 was $174.99 a week (that's good!) for a Dodge Durango 4WD (though I could have chosen a Jeep Grand Cherokee 4WD for the same price). Tax added $50--Las Vegas adds lots of tax, 26.75% on my bill, believe it or not.
