Back in the mid 1980s it was open as a small casino snack bar. I was traveling non-stop from my then home in Wyoming heading to Trona to see my ailing father in law (bad heart attack) and stopped to let the kids out to play a bit and for me to stretch after driving non stop for nearly 20 hours at that point. The depot was open and my wife and I browsed around a bit. My oldest boy was facinated by the slot machines and trying to pull the handles, causing the proprieter fits.
