YES YES YES! I have been saying this for years!

One of the things that most road-closure propents do not admit to understanding is that getting out and walking in the desert - at least for very far - is almost impossible to do safely - even for those with good knees. We can not carry enough water to safely explore some of the areas that have been open before.

I did a quick look at the Wilderness Act and the criteria for declaring public lands wilderness. Much of what has been labeled wilderness by the Desert Protection Act of 1994 can notbe legally defined as such.

Until people have had enough of closures and sue the government, like the Center for Biological Diversity does at the drop of a hat, more and more roads will be closed. Not sure HOW one goes about suing the Federal Government - but surely there are enough lawyers out there who would know how to go about it.

Or perhaps that is a little extreme. Or perhaps not.
Maybe just driving over the stupid red signs on a150-year-old road is the answer.
