Yes, I have looked at this map and got my mountains mixed up...I was wondering how they left after Trona.

There are references to how they went down Last Chance Canyon in the El Paso's and then down Solidad canyon but I am trying to figure out that area that is not shown on the wickiup map.

There is an author John Southwourth who claims to have figured out the trail.

>>John is a retired aerospace engineer long-interested in the history of the deserts of the American Southwest. Several of his desert stories have appeared in other publications.

John tells us that he has recently located on the ground the elusive trail alignment of the Manly-Rogers-Bennett-Arcane escape route out of Death Valley in 1850 as described by Manly in his classic Death Valley in '49. Contact through Dogtown Territorial.<<

This could be interesting if he indeed has.
