It was about about 4 miles (estimating here) from Ballarat, and about 2.5 miles from the area where the Colter Spring spills down over the stair stepped wash out. We talked to the guy who lives in Ballarat and he said that people have tried to dig and winch the boulder out but have failed. It looks like it was uncovered by a wash out and it goes into the ground a few feet. You could see that it has taken out it's share of oil pans and transfer cases...scrapes all over it and oil on the ground.
