There were some heavy storms in early July that dumped right on Steele Pass. I've driven the pass before (from the dunes to the springs) and it was not that bad.

Not so in late July when I was last there. I left from the Warm Springs, and it took several hours just to make it to the Upper-Upper Springs (the fenced off ones). We spent a lot of time just looking for the road, because in many places it was just plain gone. When we got the to fenced-spings, there was a really heavy wash that would have required a lot of effort to get around, and I new it was only going to get worse the further east we went, so we turned back and did Lippincott instead.

The Springs took heavy floodwaters as well, and Lee (the camphost) almost lost his trailer to the floodwaters. There are some pretty good pictures of the flood damage up on the web by Silver Bob, in the usual site that cannot be disclosed.
