An east west route, from Beatty through Stovepipe over to Panamint Valley and beyond may be open by Wednesday. No access to Furnace Creek until Friday at the earliest.
When Furnace Creek opens, access to the flood damaged areas will probably be restricted.
Right now, residents of FC Ranch are not even allowed to walk over to where the cars are on the bajada. No one may go past the intersection of 190 and the entrance to Sunset/Texas Springs Campgound and Timbisha Shoshone Res.
It's something you develop mixed feelings about. No one wants to get in the way of the reconstruction crews, but not being allowed to see things feels pretty restrictive at times. Many of the closed areas are not even damaged, or are not yet undergoing any reconstruction activity.
